Any medical or legal
professional operating out of a small clinic / lawyer’s office or a large
hospital / firm of solicitors, may require medical /legal transcription.
These transcribed records are used for purposes of archives, reference or
for serving as a legal proof of medical / legal advice. Documentation
procedures can take up-to 50% of a doctor’s / lawyer’s time. Since the
medical / legal profession is amongst the highest paid , this documentation
is also enormously expensive
The typical process of
Medical / Legal Transcription begins with receiving dictation by tape,
digital system or voice data file. Conventionally recorded advice is sent
through physical means (i.e. magnetic media). However, there is a steady
emergence of a new practice. Using a toll free telephone line, doctors,
lawyers and accountants can call up a designated number and dictate the
message, which is converted and recorded into a dedicated server in real
time. This helps in saving shipping costs and produces an manifold
improvement in productivity.
We, at CGL, connect to
this server and download dictation left by customer organizations / doctors
/ lawyers / accountants. We then proceed to retrieve the sound files,
uncompress the data and route them to different workstations for
transcription. Using earphones and a foot pedal for start-stop controls,
transcriptionists are able to hear and control the speed of audio messages.
These messages can be
transcribed in the appropriate word-processing program. . A variety of word
processing programs may be used, as different forms of transcriptions /
messages may require specific features. Our center then sends back these
transcribed messages to the hospital / doctor / lawyer / accountant.. Most
of the word processing programs used in the transcription processes is
typically accompanied by libraries / dictionaries of medical, legal and
accounting terminology.
For smaller practices
(physician’s office / independent lawyers / accountants) hand-held devices
are also recommended. These prove convenient and can drastically reduce the
time spent on recording. This can be used at any convenient time and place
and at one’s own pace. The software which is installed on the users computer
facilitates upload of these recordings to our center for transcription.
Daily business correspondence, letters to clients, proceedings at meetings,
preparation of reports etc. can all be transcribed smoothly in this manner.
We also
undertake transcription of trials, meetings, books, case hearings,
demonstrations or any conversation that has been recorded and needs conversion
to a document type.
